Seven
Spirits
48" x 48"
Acrylic on stretched canvas - 2001
Price: $1,650 |
The
seven spirits of God, often represented by lamps (Zechariah 4 and Revelation
4), symbolize the Holy Spirit. Seven, the perfect number, reinforces the
Holiness of God's Spirit. Here, the seven spirits are represented by a
circle (eternity) of doves being released by the Son to indwell the faithful.
"From
the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.
Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing. These are the seven spirits
of God."
(Revelation 4:5)

Bright
colors of new growth in Christ. The Cercelee cross epitomizes maturing
in the Faith, a willingness to endure suffering (displayed here through
the rays and quatrefoil denoting the five wounds of Christ, but in "fours,"
depicting that suffering was endured for all peoples.)
"In
bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through
whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect
through suffering."
(Hebrews 2:10)

Jerusalem
Cross
36" x 36"
Acrylic on stretched canvas - 2001
Price: SOLD -
Higgins Collection |
One
interpretation of the famed "Jerusalem Cross" is that the four
small crosses indicate the "four corners" of the earth to which
missionaries of the cross have carried the Gospel since the days of the
original Church in Jerusalem (represented by the large cross.) Here, the
underlying stained glass motif represents that fulfillment - the rich
tapestry of all nations, peoples, tribes, and tongues worshipping the
Lord - a majestic untiy in diversity.
"But
you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you: and you will
be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the
ends of the earth."
(Acts 1:8)
